National hotlines

1. 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Offers 24/7 support for anyone in emotional distress, including those grieving. You can call or text 988 or chat online at 988lifeline.org.

2. SAMHSA National Helpline: Provides a free, confidential, 24/7 treatment referral and information service (English/Spanish). Call 1-800-662-HELP (4357) for resources on mental health and grief counseling.

3. Crisis Text Line: Offers free, 24/7 mental health support via text. Text HOME to 741741 to connect with a trained crisis counselor.

4. Disaster Distress Helpline: Supports those impacted by natural or human-caused disasters and may be experiencing grief. Call or text 1-800-985-5990 or visit their website for support.

5. Veterans Crisis Line: Offers free, confidential counseling services for veterans and their family members, including support for grief. Call 988 and select option 1, text 838255, or visit their website.

6. National Mental Health Hotline: A 24-hour helpline for advice about various issues, including grief. Staffed by trained individuals who can connect callers to local resources. Call 1-866-903-3787.

7. The Compassionate Friends: Offers support to bereaved families after the death of a child. You can reach them at 877-969-0010 or visit their website at compassionatefriends.org.

8. The Dougy Center for Grieving Children and Families: Provides support for children, teens, and young adults who are grieving. Visit their website at dougy.org or call 503-775-5683.

9. National Alliance for Children's Grief (NACG): A non-profit organization focused on raising awareness and providing resources for grieving children and teens. Visit their website at nacg.org.

10. AARP, Widowed Persons Service: Provides information, resources, and referrals to support groups for widowed individuals.

11. Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS): Offers support and resources to those grieving the death of a military loved one. Call 800-959-TAPS (8277) or visit their website at taps.org.

12. American Association of Suicidology: Provides information, education, and support for those impacted by suicide.

13. American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP): Offers support for individuals who have lost someone to suicide. Call 888-333-2377 or visit afsp.org.
